A visit to Olvera can be very different depending on the season and even the day of the week. The Olvera Street Mexican style outdoor marketplace is an internationally renowned space for visitors to casually stroll, people watch and enjoy foods, cultural souvenirs and traditional live entertainment.

Several food puestos open for breakfast around 8 am but all the shops begin their day by 10 am until 6 pm (later during the summer season). If there is a fiesta, many shops stay open until 8 pm with a few staying open to 11 pm.

There are 7 museums in all, but be sure to call for current museum hours.  The newest museum is the Siquieros museum, which highlights the work of David Alfaro Siquieros, and his only outdoor mural in the United States, which is located on Olvera Street.
